This is a fanfic of me as a character in Ruby Gillman Teenage Kraken.
(At the surface, Nerissa overpowers Agatha and Grandmamah, and throws them onto a rock.)
Nerissa: (chuckles) It feels so good to be back. And this time, I'm getting rid of you for good. (She points the trident at Agatha to finish her off, when Ruby rises.)
Ruby: STAY AWAY FROM MY MOTHER!
Nerissa: (turns to face Ruby) Ruby Gillman. (Everyone on the boat clamors in surprise.)
Margot: (gasps) Pause! Rewind! Ruby?!
Nerissa: You should be dead!
Me: (nearby in a giant fish monster form) No she shouldn't be! (Ruby grabs hold of the trident and wrestle with it.)
Ruby: Picture this! (Everyone on the boat gets out their cell phones and records the battle.) Quirky girl fulfills destiny by foiling fake FRIEND! (Ruby pushes Nerissa to the left, making the prom patrons gasps. Ruby tries to grab the trident, but Nerissa hits her in the head with it. She tries to hit Ruby again, but Ruby blocks it with the armor on her wrists. Ruby grabs the trident, and they wrestle with it again.)
Agatha: (to Grandmamah) What is she doing?
Grandmamah: Answering the call. (Ruby and Nerissa continue their wrestle, Nerissa laughs, and Ruby continues trying to get the trident. But Nerissa pulls it away and backs away. The people on the land gasp slightly as they watch the battle. Nerissa raises the trident and Ruby gets her armor on. Nerissa tries to stab her, but she knocks the trident away with her fist. Nerissa swings the trident at Ruby, but Ruby ducks. Nerissa tries to stab her again, but Ruby blocks the trident with her armor and pushes it away. Nerissa tries to strike again, but Ruby blocks the trident with her armor yet again. Nerissa swipes Ruby's legs with her tail, and knocks her underwater. Nerissa laughs, gets hit in the head with a dodgeball, and turns to see Sam and Arthur on Gordon's boat.)
Sam: Leave my sister alone! (Nerissa laughs and tries to attack Sam and Arthur, but gets hit in the head with the remnants of Doug and Janice's house.)
Me: (nearby) I hope that hurt, witch!
Doug: (watching with a telescope) Oh yeah! That's what I'm talking about!
Janice: Doug, that's our house! (I rush over to Nerissa and slug her.)
Me: Sam's right! Leave Ruby alone! (I continue to punch Nerissa, and then give her a slightly big one, knocking her back. She tries to jab me with the trident, but I dodge it, flip Nerissa around, grab the trident out of her hand, and stab her in the left left arm, making her scream in pain.) Did that hurt? Did that hurt?
Nerissa: Yes.
Me: Good! That's what you get for jabbing Ruby in the arm! And getting hit with the remains of the house is what you get for hitting her in the head! I really like her! (Nerissa breaks free from my hold and grabs the trident back. Ruby gets up rushes over to Nerissa, and tries to keep fighting her.)
Nerissa: Enough with these childish games. (She lifts up Ruby with the trident handle.) I hate high school! (She throws Ruby in the water, and creates a tidal wave. The prom patrons scream and panic.)
Bliss: If this is our end, then we'll face it unafraid! (Everyone tries to run for cover as the tidal wave rises. Ruby gets up and sees the boats about to get caught in the wave.)
Gordon: (steering) Whoa! (The prom patrons continue screaming and panicking as the wave gets bigger, but Ruby quickly grabs the prom boat and lifts it out of the wave's path as the wave crashes. The prom patrons see that she saved them and cheer as she puts the boat back down in the water.)
Margot: (points) Ruby, behind you! (Nerissa knocks down Ruby with the trident.)
Nerissa: (tauntingly) You'll never win, Ruby Gillman! (She pushes Ruby underwater and tries to stab her.) You're just a dumb teenager! (Ruby tries to get up, but Nerissa pushes her back down.) You know what's really pathetic? That you thought someone like me could ever be friends with a monster like you!
Ruby: (gets up) I am not a monster! I'm a kraken! (She shoots the trident with her laser eyes, gets pushed back, and the trident flies out of Nerissa's hands. Ruby goes over to Agatha and Grandmamah as Nerissa tries to retrieve the trident.)
Ruby: Mom, we need to shoot the trident together.
Agatha: No, it... it can't be destroyed. That's... that's why I hid it.
Ruby: We can do it if we join together at the same time. It's the expodential growth formula. (Agatha and Grandmamah look at each other.) We've got to shoot it more and longer.
Me: That's right.
Ruby: Trust me, I'm a mathlete. (Agatha smiles. Nerissa comes over, shouts, and tries to impale Ruby, who gets out of the way and gasps. The trident gets stuck, and after a brief struggle, Nerissa pulls it out and tries to impale Ruby again. Ruby shoots the trident with her laser eyes, forcing Nerissa to back up as the trident warbles a bit. I rush up to Nerissa, and punch her in the stomach. She grunts in pain. I pull a dead tree out of place and whack her with it three times.)
Me: How do you like that, huh? You jerk!
Ruby: It doesn't have to end like this. Just give up the trident.
Me: Yeah. You can tell everyone you're sorry.
Nerissa: You'll never get this away from me!
Me: So that's how it's going to be.
Ruby: Maybe I can't, but we can. (She fires her laser eyes at the trident. Nerissa gasps and grunts, while backing up. Ruby continues fire her laser eyes and force her back. Ruby joins hands with Grandmamah and Agatha, and they start to glow. Nerissa continues to grunt and back up. Agatha and Grandmamah fire their laser eyes, and the trident glows, warbles, and overloads.)
Nerissa: (gasps) No! (The trident explodes and a bright light erupts. The people on the land shield themselves, and the prom patrons exclaim as the boat tilts. Sam, Arthur, and Gordon watch. Ruby, Agatha, and Grandmamah come out of the mist, holding hands, followed by me, and everyone cheers.)
Me: (to the prom patrons and people on the land) Alright! We did it! You're all safe. There's no more danger.
Sam: Woo-hoo! (Arthur laughs as he and Sam fist bump. At Ruby's bedroom window, Nessie barks happily, and the prom patrons cheer. Nerissa is back in her small half-mermaid form, as she falls into the ocean in front of Gordon's boat. He lowers the cage into the water.)
Gordon: (happily dances in a circle) Woo-hoo! Now that's a successful monster hunt! (The cage rises out of the water with Nerissa in it as I swim over.) We got us a little mermaid, Davey.
Nerissa: Please, please, please, please! I'm not evil. I'm just pretty... and misunderstood. (Darby jumps onto her face and pinches her nose, and she yelps.)
Me: No. You are evil. You're not just pretty and misunderstood. And get this through your head: Ruby is definitely not a monster or a dumb teenager! She's a sweet, lovely, beautiful kraken with a heart as big as this ocean. She has friends and a family who will always support and love her for who she is. And that's something you can never take away from her. You're the dumb one, and the monster! A dumb, weak, worthless, ugly monster. (Nerissa groans, and I swim back over to Ruby, Agatha, and Grandmamah.)
Grandmamah: Now, what about the mermaid? Everybody likes fried fish. (She tries to use her laser eyes, but Ruby stops her.)
Ruby: No! Away rage.
Grandmamah: (scoffs) Teenagers. Away rage.
Me: Well, killing Nerissa would make any of you just as bad.
Grandmamah: Yes. You're right. You're very smart.
Me: Thank you.
Agatha: (to Ruby) Ruby, I'm sorry. I was wrong. I should've trusted you with the truth. And so from now on, no more lying.
Ruby: (smiles) And no more hiding.
Me: Right. No more lying and hiding. (Ruby and Agatha hug, Gradmamah hugs them, and I hug all three of them. Then we release our hug.)
Agatha: (to Ruby, gesturing to the boat) I think you can still make the last dance. (Ruby smiles Agatha gestures to the prom boat with her head, and Ruby swims to the boat.)
Grandmamah: Now, lets talk about her coronation.
Agatha: Mom, (chuckling) don't start.
Grandmamah: Fine. A mother knows best.
Me: That's right. (Brill arrives and grabs onto the railing on the side of Gordon's boat.)
Brill: Brill's here. (He sees Agatha and Grandmamah.) Mama! What are you doing here? And with Agatha? Are... are you OK? Is everyone OK? Is Ruby OK?
Grandmamah: (shushes Brill) It's Brill's time now. (She picks up Brill, puts him against her face, and hugs him. Agatha joins the hug.)
Brill: Oh. I've waited fifteen years for this. (He gets teary-eyed.) Who's crying? You're crying. (He happily cries.)
Me: Everyone is OK, Brill. They defeated Nerissa. (Ruby swims to the prom boat, changes into her normal form, and gets on the boat wearing a beautiful glittery blue dress and beads on her head. Everyone cheers, and the random girl from earlier holds up her "marry me" poster.")
Random Girl: I love you so much! (Ruby smiles and waves to everyone as she walks through the crowd to Margot, Trevin, and Bliss, who are smiling at her.)
Ruby: I'm sorry I didn't tell you everything sooner. And I'm sorry for ditching you. I shouldn't have lied to you.
Margot: Ruby, my sweet, magnificent, giant-sized best friend, you never, ever have to hide things from us.
Bliss: Yeah. We will always be by your side. (Creepily) Even when you almost ended life as we know it. (She regains herself.) Sorry. No catastrophizing. (Trevin comes over and puts his arm around Bliss.)
Trevin: Kraken, Canadian, or otherwise, we'll always love you, Rubes. (Ruby looks touched.)
Ruby: Squad solidarity?
Margot, Trevin, and Bliss: (Hug Ruby in a group hug) Squad solidarity! (Margot giggles and Trevin chuckles). Ruby looks behind her and sees Connor come out of the crowd. Her friends release the hug, and she walks over to him.)
Ruby: (trying to sound cool) Hey you.
Connor: Ruby. Hey. So that was you out there.
Ruby: (in unison) Connor.
Connor: (in unison) Ruby. Oh. You go.
Ruby: No. You go. (They laugh awkwardly.) OK. I go: Connor, will you go to prom with me? (Connor raises his finger, types something on his cell phone, and hands it to Ruby. She looks at it, and sees that it says "yes.") Wait, Connor, are these quadratic derivative graphs?
Connor: Lets just say... I had a good tutor. (He smiles at Ruby, and she smiles back. She takes his hand, and suddenly starts to dance with him.) Whoa! (Ruby spins over to him.)
Ruby: Woo! Lets dance. (She giggles and they start dancing. At Gordon's boat, Grandmamah is looking at Sam and asking about him. I'm on the boat in my real form, and Agatha is on the boat in her normal form, wearing a towel.)
Grandmamah: And who is this fine young kraken?
Arthur: (rubs Sam's head) This is Sam, our son.
Grandmamah: Son? As in, I'm a grandmama again!
Me: You didn't know he was born all this time?
Grandmamah: No.
Sam: This is the coolest thing ever! (Grandmamah puts her finger in front of him and he jumps into her hand.) Do your tentacles ooze poison? Have you ever wrestled a hydra? Better yet, have you ever played dodgeball? (He lays on her shoulder on his stomach.)
Grandmamah: (enthusiastically) Oh I am gonna like you.
Gordon: (streaming on his cell phone) OK, guys. Gordon here. Uhh... this be my official apology video. Look, I said some insensitive things about the kraken. (Nerissa gasps from offscreen, and the camera points at her.)
Nerissa: OMG, are you live-streaming!? (She groans.) Ugh, my hair is terrible! (She tries to fix her hair.)
Gordon: (to the viewers) But to your...
Nerissa: (looking flirty) How many likes are we getting though?
Me: No one knows yet, but here's what you're getting. (I take out a small stick and start whacking her with it.)
Nerissa: Ow! Ow! Ow!
Me: This is your punishment for everything you did, ocean witch! That's a good nickname for you. (Agatha and Arthur look on smiling. On the prom boat, Ruby and Connor are continuing their dance. Ruby sees Agatha smiling at her and waves. Agatha waves back. Margot is dancing with another boy, and Ruby joins them. Then she jumps over to Trevin and Bliss, and briefly dances with them. Ruby, Margot, Trevin, Bliss, and the nameless boy go over to Connor, and they all dance together. I watch them from afar.) Ruby got to go to prom. I'm so happy for her.
Agatha: I'm happy too.
Arthur: Me too.
