Alice is a character in the DreamWorksNickelodeon's series, The Penguins of Madagascar and one of the two main human antagonists alongside Officer X. She is the head zookeeper of the Central Park Zoo.

Background[]

Personality[]

Alice is involved in several aspects of the animals' well-being. It's hinted that deep down Alice cares for the Zoo Animals and only wants what's best for them as she hates it when people feed the animals popcorn, and posts several signs throughout the zoo after catching a child feeding Marlene a kernel (though this may be more in fear of losing her job). Alice is also in charge of gathering the penguins for visits to the veterinarian and later remarks that they have a dentist appointment (Private then confusedly states that they don't have teeth).

Alice and the penguins have a mutual dislike for each other, and she believes that they are scheming (though she is actually correct in this assumption).

Alice hates aspects of her job, and is happy to have a voice-automated robot guide give directions so that she can avoid "annoying tour group questions". Because of this, Alice at times can be extremely obnoxious. Alice pays very little (if any) attention to the animals that she sometimes comes off as oblivious. In one episode, she states that they don’t do anything interesting. And in another episode, she remarks to a know-it-all kid that the zoo has 3 male penguins and 1 female penguin, which is not true (it’s unknown if she didn’t know she was wrong or if she simply just didn’t care).

Alice was also shown to be immune to almost all penguin attacks, as she was unaffected by Rico's OHKO attacks and Kowalski stated that Private's quantum-hypercute attack was her only known weakness in High Moltage.

Physical Appearance[]

Alice is always seen wearing a zookeeper uniform and has short brown hair.

Role in the series[]

In "Tangled in the Web", Alice ends up being taped for Funniest Animals by slapping her butt in the kitchen.

In "Popcorn Panic", Alice hates it when people feed the animals popcorn, and posts several signs throughout the Central Park Zoo after catching a child feeding Marlene a kernel (though this is more in fear of losing her job than actually caring about the animals).Alice figures out the penguins are behind the stealing of the popcorn.

In "All Choked Up", she set up a robot ranger to answer questions.

In "Needle Point", she was looking for Skipper.

In "Cat's Cradle", Alice takes Max, covered in paint, to the female red Rhodesian slasher.

In "What Goes Around", she did not help the girl find her doll.

In "In The Line of Doody", she helped out with the opening of the children's zoo.

In "The Big Squeeze", she brought Savio in the zoo and afterwards shipped him back out.

In "Hot Ice", she kicked Cecil and Brick out of the zoo for not following the rules.

In "Wishful Thinking", she compromised the penguins' operations.

Trivia[]

  • Alice is voiced by Mary Scheer, who is best known for playing Freddie Benson's mother Mrs. Benson on iCarly.
  • In the end credits of the episode "Love Hurts", it says that Alice is played by Danny Jacobs who plays King Julien. This was obviously a mistake.
  • It's possible that Alice might be the head zookeeper—or is at least high-ranked—because in episode, when she was on her phone complaining to a coworker about another coworker that's known for being late to work, Alice threatened to the coworker that's always late to write them up the next time that they're late.
  • It is implied Alice has Athlete's Foot, as seen when the penguins tried to help cure Mort's foot obsession: when they stole Alice's shoe, it smelt so badly the penguins had to wear gas masks while Mort passed out (which is due to the fact she almost never takes her shoes and socks off).
  • In "Hot Ice", it is shown that Alice is both fearless (when confronting Cecil and Brick) and can be an imposing figure if she puts her mind to it.
