Voltron: Defender of the Universe, also known as Voltron 84 is an animated television series that features a team of space explorers that pilot a giant super robot known as "Voltron". Initially produced as a joint venture between World Events Productions and Toei Animation, the original television series aired in syndication from September 10, 1984 to November 18, 1985. The series was extremely popular during its original run,[1] and spawned a follow-up series, several comic books, and a 1-hour special. It also served as the inspiration for the later Netflix series Voltron: Legendary Defender.
