Florrie is a major character in the DreamWorks film, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. She is Alex's mother, Zuba's wife, and the Alpha Lioness of the pride.
Background[]
She and Zuba were forced to assume that Alex had been killed by the hunters who stole him. Years later, unlike Zuba, she quickly manages to recognize Alex when he returns to the reserve, even though she hadn't seen him since he was a cub.
Florrie is caring, understanding, and accepting. She is more accepting of Alex for who he is. She is not disturbed at all by the fact that Alex prefers to dance instead of fight. Due to this, she acts as the voice of reason and tries to encourage Zuba that it is better that Alex came back to them at all, dancing or no dancing.
She is never addressed by name in the movie, and is credited simply as Mom. Her name is revealed in the film's novelization.
