Prince Lotor is the son of Emperor Zarkon, heir to the throne of the Galra Empire, and an antagonist in Voltron: Legendary Defender, Season 3 and Season 6. His appearance was teased in a video clip presented as an April Fools joke in 2017.[1]

Unlike his father Zarkon, Lotor believes that those whom the Galra rule should be offered the chance to join the Empire, and that the Galra should seek to inspire loyalty rather than fear among their subjects. In his mind only those who stubbornly refuse to embrace the Galra Empire should be destroyed, and rule should be determined by strength and skill in combat rather than through subterfuge.

Despite being smaller than a typical Galra, Lotor is a formidable fighter, demonstrating the ability to defeat both a massive gladiator and a veteran Galra officer in back-to-back battles and showing no signs of weariness. In melee combat he often wields a sword, and he is also a skilled pilot.

  • Lotor originally appeared as the main antagonist of Voltron: Defender of the Universe, in which he demonstrated an obsession with Allura's counterpart and a long-standing rivalry with Keith.
  • The teaser trailer of season 8 shows Lotor standing behind Allura meaning that he will return in the final season.
