- “Y'all small tuna fish, I'm one big catch!”
- ―Missy, singing.
Melissa Arnette Elliott (or simply Missy by Oscar) is a minor and guest character in the DreamWorks film, Shark Tale. She is an unidentified gray, red-and-black horizontally-striped marine reef fish with an occupation of worker/singer at the Whale Wash, alongside her real-life collaborator and in-universe girlfriend, Christina Aguilera.
Background[]
Development[]
Missy Elliot, along with longtime collaborator Christina Aguilera, was brought on board at Dreamworks to appear in a closing-scene musical number which features the two, as animated sea creatures, performing their cover of Rose Royce's 1976 hit as the credits roll with a montage.
Personality[]
For the very small amount of screentime, she gets in the film, she is beautifully singing her gills off with a grin on her face albeit as a backing track and singer.
Missy, like her human counterpart, tends to be quite adaptable, and she finds it easy to fit into most social set ups and vocational fields. There are no particular virtues that can cause an imbalance in Missy's personality and life, but she has to work hard and persistently to develop those special strengths that she desires to attain.
Trivia[]
- She openly breaks the fourth wall, as she sings "A Sharks Tale exclusive." within the song.
- Though her official species has never been specified, it has been speculated she is a tuna fish, according to the song.
- Missy jokingly stated the fish version of her and Christina resided in the massive custom aquarium next to her dining table, which held 17 other fish and is noted as one of the more memorable fish tanks from "MTV Cribs".
- MTV Cribs was also referenced in the opening of Shark Tale, during Oscar's introduction.
