Nickelodeon Animation Studio Inc (also known as Nickelodeon Animation Studios and credited as Nickelodeon Productions on-screen) is an American animation studio owned by Paramount Skydance through the Nickelodeon Group.
On August 11, 1991, Nickelodeon introduced the Nicktoons, original animated shows created by the network. The first three Nicktoons were Doug, The Ren & Stimpy Show, and Rugrats. The shows became highly popular, and Nickelodeon Animation Studio continues to produce new Nicktoons to this day.
On October 2006 DreamWorks Animation (who was then in a distribution deal with Nickelodeon's corporate sister Paramount Pictures) announced a collaboration with DreamWorks Animation to create shows based on DWA's films. The first DWA co-production was The Penguins of Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, and Monsters vs. Aliens.
Paramount Pictures after the distribution deal from DreamWorks Animation in the starring with Over the Hedge and 14 film to be distributed by Paramount after the departure of DreamWorks Pictures. Paramount distributed 14 DreamWorks Animation films from 2006 to 2012.
