Pitch Black, better known as the boogeyman by children, is the main antagonist of Rise of the Guardians.

Appearance

Pitch appears as a tall lithe man. He has extremely pale gray skin, dull silver-golden yellow eyes, that sometimes glow, jagged, sharp, white, teeth, and glossy, spiky, black hair that curve back towards his head and end in spikes. He wears black robes that has a slit running in the middle that stops at the middle of his chest and at the bottom it it has a slit but it doesn't open as often. Underneath the robes he wears black pants and black shoes.    

Personality

Pitch being the boogeyman, enjoys turning dreams into nightmares, taking cruel delight in seeing it. He however also has a softer side and seems to see Jack Frost as a kindred spirit.

Trivia

  • His name is a reference to the word "pitch black" which you get when no light is in a room and everything is completely dark . 
  • He has shown to have a softer side. This is first shown in the scene in which Jack Frost enters Pitche's lair. While he could have attacked Jack for intruding into his domain he instead offers Jack his memories from who he was before he became Jack Frost. 
  • Another part in which his softer side is shown is in the scene in the Antarctic. During that time Jack and Pitch  have a fight At one point Pitch screams to Jack why Jack thinks that Pitch doesnt know what he was going trough. He then reveals that he to longs be believed in by the children just as the Guardians.
  • As the lord of fear Pitch knows everybody's fears. However instead of exploiting this to defeat Jack he calms Jack down even saying that he believes in Jack and that the children of the world will also believe in Jack. He then says that the two of them could rule the world together as.... When Jack says Pitch Black Pitch quickly reveals Jack Frost would be the other one of the two.
  • The peak of his power was during the middle ages a time in which there was a lot of fear.
  • He loved the result of Jack Frosts ice magic and his black sand.
