The Screaming Death has a mutated maturity cycle and becomes a full-grown adult faster. The Screaming Death was violent and destructive when it was destroying entire islands. However, it turns out later it is shown to be merely seeking its mother. After reunited with his mother and siblings, the Screaming Death became calmer.

In "Cast Out Part I", as Snotlout and Hookfang explores the wrecked Outcast Ship and no one was on it until the Screaming Death emerge from the ground. Snotlout was then shocked to see it and the Screaming Death then attacks them with his tail and chases after them. The Screaming Death then knocked Snotlout out of Hookfang and fell on the beach. The Screaming Death was about to finish him until Snotlout was saved by Alvin and then the Screaming Death disappeared underground.

The Screaming Death continues to sink sea stack and drove away the Terrible Terrors.

In "Night of the Hunters, Part 2", Hiccup, Snotlout, and their dragons arrived on an island whole of Whispering Deaths and the Screaming Death. The Screaming Death appears out of the ground and roars at them. Hiccup then hope that he'll recognize them for helping him reunite with his mother but he doesn't recognize them and begins to attack them instead. They then take flight and the Screaming Death chases them. They then start lose him in the clouds allowing him to be distracted in the sky finding them allowing them to explore the tunnels to molted Screaming Death scales. As Hiccup and Snotlout almost begin to collect the scales, the Screaming Death returns to the tunnels. As the Screaming Death begins to attack them, his mother arrived and orders the Screaming Death to backdown because she recognized them. The Screaming Death then moves away allowing them to collect his scales.

In "King of Dragons, Part 2", the Screaming Death arrived to help fight against the Dragon Hunters after being called by the Bewilderbeast's distress call.
