Sting (real name Gordon M. Sumner) is a minor character in the DreamWorks film, Bee Movie.

Background

He reveals during the honey trials that he was formerly a part of the band The Police, despite never having actually worked as a police officer. He is later arrested for using a "bee-negative" stage name after the case is won by the bees.

Trivia

This character is based on the real-life Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner OBE, better known as "Sting", who was once the lead singer of the British rock band the Police, in which he got his stage name from wearing a yellow and black striped jersey at one day.
- Additionaly, the "M." part most likely refers to his second given name Matthew, which shockingly leaves out his third one Thomas.
  - If his third given name was to be implemented within the movie, then Barry would've refer to him as "Gordon M.T. Sumner" instead.
Sting resides in a large manor (named Sting Manor), which can be briefly seen from the outside during the film.
Sting possesses the ability to levitate. In the scene where he is arrested, the police walk in on him meditating and grab him from mid-air as he hovers above the ground.
Interestingly, his appearance during the court scene in the movie coincides with his own song "Englishman in New York" (since the court itself is located in Brooklyn, New York City, U.S., and that Sting himself is originally from England, U.K.).
