Trolls World Tour is the sequel to Trolls, directed by Walt Dohrn and co-directed by David P. Smith. It will be released on April 17, 2020.
At the time of its announcement, only Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake were confirmed to reprise their roles([1]) as Poppy and Branch. On May 10, 2018, the other cast members was announced.([2])
Synopsis
Queen Poppy and Branch make a surprising discovery – there are other Troll worlds beyond their own, and their distinct differences create big clashes between these various tribes. When a mysterious threat puts all of the Trolls across the land in danger, Poppy, Branch, and their band of friends must embark on an epic quest to create harmony among the feuding Trolls to unite them against certain doom.

Trivia
- Trolls will be the fifth DreamWorks Animation film to become a franchise, following Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, and How to Train Your Dragon.
- This will be the first DreamWorks Animation film to be released in April.
- It will also be Universal Pictures' second animated theatrical film released in April, after Hop in 2011.
- This is the fifth DreamWorks Animation's musical film, following The Prince of Egypt, Joseph: King of Dreams, The Road to El Dorado, and the first film, Trolls.
- Originally the sequel to Trolls was going to be released on April 10, 2020, but it was then moved to Valentine's Day on February 14, 2020. As of December 2017, it was moved a second time to April 17, 2020, which is closer to the first air date DreamWorks announced.
- Because at one point promotional artwork showed Branch and Poppy together with the Valentine's release date below them, fans have speculated the sequel may be about an official love story between Branch and Poppy. However, so far this is just fan speculation and has not been confirmed in any official way by Dreamworks,
- The film was first titled Trolls 2, but in June 12, 2018, it was retitled Trolls World Tour’’.
- This will be the second DreamWorks Animation sequel not to have its music score composed by the same composer as its predecessor after Penguins of Madagascar (which was composed by Lorne Balfe); Christophe Beck composed the music score for the first film while Theodore Shapiro takes over for this film, making it the second DreamWorks Animation film to be scored by the aforementioned composer after Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie.
