Wallace is one of the two main characters in the Wallace and Gromit franchise. Wallace is an inveterate inventor, creating elaborate contraptions that often do not work as intended. He is a self-proclaimed genius, evident from his exclamation when he discovers Hutch's borrowed skill, a talent for all things mechanical. Most of Wallace's inventions look not unlike the designs of W. Heath Robinson and Rube Goldberg, and Nick Park has said of Wallace that all his inventions are designed around the principle of using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

Appearance

Wallace is a slender bald man with black eyes, a round nose, and fair skin. He usually wears a green sweater vest over a white dress shirt, a red tie, brown pants, and black tennis shoes. While working in Anti-Pesto, Wallace wears a blue jumpsuit, blue cap and black boots. While thinking he captured the Were-Rabbit and before his transformation into the Were-Rabbit, Wallace wore a purple vest over his usual dress shirt, a red bow-tie, brown pants, and black shoes.

Personality

Wallace is optimistic, good-natured, inventive, naive, silly, funny, and loves cheese. He has a vast, expansive knowledge of machinery, and is an unrivaled master mechanic. Many of his inventions are built to make his life more pleasurable, and perform simple tasks for him, suggesting Wallace is quite a lazy man. However, the reason he takes so many shortcuts is so that he can focus more of his time at working on grand machines, and leave simpler tasks to his devices. Though he is a genius in the technology department, he generally lacks common sense in most other aspects of life, and tends to ignore the obvious right in front of him. His favorite cheese is Wensleydale and he always has to eat it with crackers. The concept of eating cheese without crackers greatly disturbs him. He is not very assertive, and tends to go along with whatever everyone else is doing. The grounded, and very practical Gromit has to step in whenever Wallace is in danger, as Wallace is easily panicked.
