Wolf, sometimes known as Big Bad Wolf, is a supporting character in the DreamWorks Shrek franchise. He is loosely based on the character of the same name voiced by Aron Warner. He is very laid-back, which makes him appear quite lazy, although he is a very busy wolf. He is also apparently on good terms with the Three Little Pigs.

Appearances[]

Shrek[]

In the first film, he was seen in Shrek's bed and pointing to another man when Shrek asked where "this Farquaad guy is". At the end he's seen during Shrek and Fiona wedding alongside a Farquaad guard.

Shrek 2[]

In the second film, he had a far bigger part than in any of the others. He first appeared in Fiona's Dragon Keep in her bed reading "Pork Illustrated" with a picture of a pig in near to nothing on the front cover. He then told Prince Charming that Fiona was on her honeymoon. He also helped Shrek and the others stop Fiona from falling for Charming and defeat the Fairy Godmother. At the end he dances during the ending festival and even plays a guitar.

Shrek the Third[]

In the third film, he appeared at Fiona's baby shower and, along with Gingy, the Three Little Pigs, Pinocchio, and the Three Blind Mice, gave Fiona a gift. He then helped save Shrek from being killed by getting in dressed as a bear.

Shrek Forever After[]

When Shrek enters the alternate reality, Wolfie is Rumpelstiltskin's Wig handler and he is dressed as a maid. He also had a brief appearance at the birthday party of the Ogre triplets, blowing up balloons but accidentally popping them when blowing too hard.

Other Appearances[]

Shrek in the Swamp Karaoke Dance Party![]

Wolf sings "Who Let The Dogs Out" in the karaoke.

Far Far Away Idol[]

He sings "Hungry Like The Wolf" with the Three Little Pigs in front of Shrek, Fiona, and Simon Cowell.

Shrek the Halls[]

He appeared to celebrate Christmas with all the other fairytale creatures who all accidentally made Shrek's Christmas a disaster. He was the first to forgive Shrek because of him not bothered attitude and because he was hungry. When everyone forgave him, they all went back to the house where he kicked Pinocchio out of his "good spot".

Video Games[]

In Shrek: Reekin' Havoc, Wolf appears as one of the bosses.

Big Bad Wolf is a playable character in Shrek Super Slam, although, he does not wear his regular pink, instead his gown colours are red, blue, green, and yellow, but in the video game intro he is shown wearing the pink gown. It could have been the beta version of the character. His slam is huffing in pair and puffing it out, the direction of the blow can be controlled.

He also appeared in Shrek Smash and Crash Racing as the car of Red Riding Hood.

Trivia[]

  • According to Shrek 2 (video game) he's tall 6'1 and weights 180 lbs.
  • The magazine he's reading in the Fiona's bed is called "Pork Illustrated". This is a parody of real life magazine Sports Illustrated, well known for their swimsuit cover models. In the musical, he reads a similar magazine.
  • Much like in the fairytale Little Red Riding Hood, Big Bad Wolf is disguised as her grandmother hoping to fool Little Red Riding Hood and eat her. He keeps granny's night gown on for most of his appearances in Shrek media. Wolfie's wearing of traditional women's clothing has led to some confusion over his gender.
  • He doesn't have any connections with Lobo the Death Wolf from the Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.
